Debt Collection

For Food NW members, Jolliffe & Co offer a special rate of £10.00 plus VAT for routine debt collection letters on debts of £5,000.00 and below, and £20.00 plus VAT for all other routine debt collection letters. This quotation will include basic enquiries of the debtor but must be limited to instructions received by email only. There are many different levels of service within such a broad description. The Jolliffe & Co ethos is that debt collection cannot be treated as a factory with conveyor belt processes.

Credit Profiling

It is important that companies know who they are dealing with, before supplying them or when payment becomes late for no apparent reason. Jolliffe & Co can offer Food NW members a detailed credit profile for any limited company for £7.50 plus VAT.

An upgraded service is also available whereby a company’s credit profile can be continuously monitored with any substantial change in credit profile being immediately updated by email. Fees for this service are available on request.

Disputed Debts

Under £5,000.00

It is all too often that straightforward cash flow problems turn into a dispute. A customer may be unable to pay but rather than saying so will invent a dispute - “the goods were not what I ordered”, “the goods were late being delivered” etc.

It can become uneconomic to collect modest debts that become disputed; however these debts are crucial to businesses of all sizes. For Food NW members are offered a substantially discounted hourly rate of £95.00 plus VAT for dealing with such matters. Jolliffe & Co guarantee that, notwithstanding the hourly rate, a qualified Solicitor will personally handle any such matter to its conclusion.

Over £5,000.00

It is important to be proactive when a debt becomes rather more substantial. It may be that traditional Court procedures are not appropriate in every instance.

Food NW members, are offered a free initial appointment (up to an hour) to discuss the alternatives and the best strategy for ensuring prompt payment.

Commercial Disputes

There is no getting away from the fact that commercial disputes are expensive; both in terms of legal fees and management time.

It is of utmost importance to deal with matters in a reasonable and proportionate manner to ensure that clients receive the best possible outcome from any dispute. Jolliffe & Co offer “no win no fee” terms on many commercial disputes subject to an initial assessment. Food NW members are offered a free appraisal of any dispute to ascertain its suitability for “no win no fee” funding. A copy of the invoice, client’s terms of business, and any relevant correspondence would be required for this appraisal.

Commercial Litigation

Jolliffe & Co. deals with litigation of all values and all types of dispute. For disputes exceeding £5,000.00 we are quite content to meet with your members at their premises (within a reasonable distance) to appraise a matter on a no cost basis. Thereafter, we will consider whether the matter can be pursued with this firm acting on a “no win no fee” basis. If this is not possible, we will consider dealing with the matter going forward on a discounted hourly rate or fixed fee basis to be discussed on an individual basis.
